Dr, Mark Elrod, on the surge of troops to Iraq:

I learned many years ago that the first thing you should do when you find yourself standing in the bottom of a deep hole is to stop digging.

The last thing in the world you need to do is spend $6.6 billion on a slightly larger shovel.

He's lived the bulk of his life spreading bulls*** I expect a shovel is one of the only tools he knows how to use.
He's had so much experience he should be the Ace of Spades.

That's a blog you need to put on your reader. I can't BELIEVE I've never pimped him on LJ. I admire him SO MUCH for being a moderate and still teaching at a place as conservative as Harding U. They actually had Anne Coulter lined up to speak there until the minority of moderate-liberal students yelled so loudly they had to cancel her.

I liked another analogy for GWB's current position:

"A guy wants to go driving on a winter's night, on icy roads. His friends tell him, 'Yeah, go for it' when everybody else is saying, 'Don't go, it's not safe.' And he goes driving, and he crashes the car. At that point, there are no really good solutions. It's a little late for better ideas; the only good idea was not going in the first place."

"But for whatever you do, don't give the guy another car."
