I think everyone on my friends list is politically active enough to do this anyway, but I'm going to say it regardless.

If you have the right to vote in the midterm elections today, get out and do it. I don't have that right, though what happens south of the border does affect my life and my country. Do not take it for granted - get out and use the right for which so many people over the centuries have fought and died.

The world, as always, is watching. Your actions matter. That's what democracy is about. Do it. Vote.

EDIT: If you have kids who are too young to vote, take them with you. Show them that it is important. That's how we get engaged citizens in the next generation - by example.

Voted early this past Sunday. Took 10 minutes, no lines, no hassles.

I try to make sure I vote on the day, because the polling station is in the school gym across the street from me so it's much more convenient. But out polls are so small - basically, the school catchment area votes in the school gym - that the only lines happen after dinner, and I can always make it before that.

I'm just about to go wash my hair right quick, bathe the kiddo, and then head out to vote by 1:00 PM (hopefully missing the bulk of the lunchtime rush). Tofu was taken by coworkers earlier this morning to the polling place, and I know my parents are voting. I hate to admit it, but due to all the moving around I was doing years ago, this will be the first national election I've voted in. (I've voted in a local school board election.) But I'm voting this year. South Carolina has a marriage amendment on the ballot, I know it'll pass, but at least my voice will go against it.

Thanks for the urging to get us out to the polls.

I missed the first election I was ever eligible to vote in. It was the 1993 federal election, and I had just turned eighteen. I was living in France on a year-long exchange, and because I wasn't registered to vote before, I couldn't get a mail-in ballot in time to vote. I'm proud to say I've never missed one since, and don't intend to.

Whaaaa? Why didn't I notice before that you were from South Carolina? If I ever knew, I have forgotten where exactly you are? I'm currently in Charleston...though I'm in the process of looking for work elsewhere.

Glad to hear you got out to vote and cast one more strike against the stupid amendment. *shakes head* There are defnitelyl reasons I'll be glad to move.

Born and raised here, got away to Maine for a little over a year and had to come back due to financial reasons. I think I've commented to you before, but it was a long time ago. I'm in the low-state, about an hour from Augusta, Georgia. You can count me, my fiance, and I believe my mother also said no to that Amendment. :)

We always take the kids, and Furuba9's school (where we vote) always has a Youth Vote - they have their own booth and vote just like the adults do :-)
