No Promise Keepers? Would have thought they'd be up there...

How prevalent are these organisations in Canada? Most seem US-centric.

Many of them have Canadian branches, and several are affiliated with the more evangelical denominations here. Our church regularly includes a Focus on the Family flyer in the bulletin, and the affiliate organizations were involved in funding a "Go Vote" flyer that fell just short of telling us to vote Clonservative, that also appeared in the bulletin in January. (I complained to one of the top brass at the Army in this area about that one, and the response was something like, "No one else complained, so why should we change?") The CBN has a cable channel in Canada, and I believe they're affiliated with the Women's network as well, though I'm not sure.

Short answer: they're here, but far less prevalent. I would love to know how much these groups contributed to Harper's campaign, though.

Promise Keepers started out as a branch of FotF, I believe. They may still come under that corporate umbrella.

Interesting.

I have to admit that, looking at the dollar amounts, although organizations lobbying for religious freedom are probably worth a lot less, it seems to me that individuals and corporations are worth a lot more. These days, how much does a hundred million or so really buy?

BTW, I hear it's your bday. Happy birthday!

Thank you!

And as for what a hundred million buys - it buys politicians.

Look! The scary people have lots of money.

I used to be an Evangelical. I know the scary names when I see them.

Funny how the scary people keep asking poor elderly people for more money. Funnier how they get it.

Hey, just to lighten things up, rather than spew more bitterness; happy birthday! I just found out. I guess the topical thing to say is "and many more in good socialized health in a free country."
