What a day.
May. 11th, 2005 01:37 pmI hate in-services that only take half a day. I have to find a way to get to them and get back to school from them. I have to teach five minutes after arriving at school because the supply goes to cover a different class, or is simply done for the day. I missed both my prep and my lunch, so I had to get someone to cover my duty for this afternoon so that I would get half an hour without the kids. These things are just not worth the effort they take to get to.
On the plus side, the in-service itself was okay. I wish they'd had fewer photocopies and more time actually working with our kits that we were supposed to be learning about. But I got some good ideas and I'm going to try at least two of them next week.
I need to work out this afternoon, but I'm not sure I'll have the energy. I have the desperate desire to sit in front of my computer for two baby-free hours and do as little as possible. Fancy that.
Okay, time to teach music. Good: the music portable is air conditioned. Bad: I'm starting them on recorders today, and I have no clue how much they learned last year, where I'm headed with them on Friday, or much of anything at all. I don't even know if everyone who needs one will have one today. Argh.
