A breakdown of some of the programs to be cut compared to the tax cuts to be extended.

The overall message: if the U.S. were to return to the pre-Bush status quo (still one of the lower tax burdens in the developed world) it would be able to afford most if not all of the programs for the poor that are on the chopping block because of lack of funds.

The one hope for my country that I have is that so many citizens will be hurt so bad by this agenda that they never vote Republican again. With any luck us neo New Dealers will have clear ground upon which to rebuild. Failing that, I'll organize a California secession movement.

But, but those were the best years of my life... Punk Rock, drugs and enough calamity to generate tall tales for two lifetimes. Yeah, let's animate Reagan's corpse and run up in the Republican Primary. It'd be the 80s all over again. On second thought...

I think [livejournal.com profile] r_caton meant Bush 43 by "the chimp." That's who sprang to my mind.

Screw a CA secession movement; too many conservatives inland. Move out here to New England and help me organize a New England secession movement.
