Celtic Knot necklace

I'm not sure if the site requires a login; it's Lion Brand patterns.

I have difficulty wearing a lot of jewelry because my skin is sensitive to at least two metals, so even nickel-free jewelry often doesn't work for me.  I have a small cadre of pretty pieces that I've bought or that friends have given me, mostly in sterling silver, but I often forget to put them on because I never got into the habit of wearing jewelry very much.  I could wear a knit necklace.  I just need to get a spool with small pegs on it, so I could make it up in one of my fine-gauge yarns for a less-cumbersome look than the one in the picture.  Elizabeth's spool is designed for chunky-weight yarn and the stitches for worsted weight look too loose for my taste.  I might look up less bulky versions of a Celtic knot, too.

I have a purple Malabrigo that I couldn't decide on a project for.  I bought it because it was gorgeous, and I take it out every now and again to pet it.  I think I now have a possible project for it!

Use two double-points and knit i-cord. You can do it at any gauge and it doesn't involve a knitting spool, which to me is even *more* tedious in the long run.

I'm just not a fan of i-cord, but on the rare occasions that a crocheted chain won't cut it, I'd rather knit it than fiddle with a french knitter.

I like cork knitting, and I find it faster than i-cord because you don't have to be constantly moving stuff to the other end of the needles.

However, now that you mention it, I have the right crochet hooks and could crochet a cord really easily and probably faster than a spool. I might do that.

Try clear nail polish on the parts that touch your skin, at least for the short term. In the long term, it wears off.

It rubs off or chips, and does so unevenly, so subsequent coats end up looking sloppy. I prefer to wear my jewelry for only short periods of time and put up with a bit of a rash from that, rather than ruining the jewelry.

I know I've referred you to this company many times, but have you ever bought from "Simply Whispers" (www.simplywhispersstore.com). I swear by them. Excellent products and customer service and good prices with frequent sales/shipping offers (not sure about Canadian shipping). They use surgical grade stainless steel, sterling silver and 24K gold and have a great reputation. Well worth trying out.

I figured. I've sent the link to Piet because I have no money for jewelry, but my birthday is coming. :)
