Directed against the fundamentalist Christians who think the American government ought to cater to them. A few spots are not work safe. Those are the funniest bits, of course. (From [livejournal.com profile] m0onkeygrl.)

*shrug* It offends me for the same reason most of these types of things offend me - I am a devout Christian who is NOTHING like that. And the vast msjority of Christians that I know and am with every day are not like that. I get offended by the whole continually being defined by the worst elements, but that's the way it is for every group, I guess.

If I let myself understand it as ALL Christians, I get offended, too. If I see it as the sects that they're really directing it at, the ones they take pains to identify through images, then it doesn't offend me. You'll notice the Catholic nun in the piece isn't denegrated at all - she's one of the ones denouncing the Fundamentalists.

Exactly, they're not targeting all Christians. There are obvious jabs at Phelps, and the various televangelists who want you to send them money for Jesus, yet mysteriously can afford plastic surgery and BMWs.

And BDSM play with people other than their spouses. That part made me giggle.

You need not be offended; the video is attacking two things; *extremist* Christians AND the concept of religion in government. Neither of which is easy to argue as being a good thing. :)

Great video, and so true. Religion does not belong in government. Look at all those countries where religion does play a strong part in government, and how the majority of them have all kinds of problems such as infighting and intolerance. Most of the Middle East is a great example of this.

I'm often ashamed of my own government. I think if someone like Mike Huckabee is elected it'll be time for me to move to Canada...

The Ortho crowd weren't mentioned at ALL. :)

But, from the standpoint of Southern Baptists, Catholics aren't Christians. Nobody is except them.
