So far today, I have practised my piano for an hour, played two hours' worth of online settlers, written about five hundred words, and read half of a Reader's Digest magazine, November issue, that was still in the package when I picked it up. I also bathed and dressed my daughter for church, waved good-bye when Opa came to pick her up, and enjoyed my time while she was at church and while she napped.

I love days like this, even if they come about because I'm not feeling so hot.

I've started working on the third movement of the Moonlight Sonata. The first is very well-known, the second almost entirely unknown but much easier to play, and the third is the music always associated for me with scenes from the Smurfs where Gargamel is chasing Smurfette. It's got lots of arpeggios done very, very fast, and requiring quite a bit of precision. There are also trills throughout that are designed to make someone rethink the impulse to try sight-reading. Some of the trills have double sharps in them!! I have to think twice about double sharps no matter where I see them; seeing them in tiny little grace notes had me doing a double-take. And I never even got as far as the left hand. Still, it was an improvement over practising the Christmas Assembly stuff for tomorrow. I'm getting very sick of those three carols. It's cool that Elizabeth knows them all, though.

Time to get Piet up from his nap so I can go back to my writing.
