Okay, here's the thing.

I have a huge number of cloth diapers in my basement, and the strong probability that I will never use them (other than a few prefolds as dusting cloths.) Even if I have another baby, I know how to make/acquire a stash quite cheaply, and storing these things seems really silly.

However, I spent nearly three hundred dollars on them in the space of a few months, and I don't want to simply freecycle them. I also don't want to have to ship them anywhere. I believe that leaves me with Craigslist.

So, someone tell me about Craigslist, because I've never sold or bought through it before. Do I need to take pictures? Should I divide the stash into saleable segments first? Can I sell stained diapers? Is there a bargaining process or do I just list my price? I want these things gone within a week, which is when the Christmas stuff comes out.

You don't need to take pictures for Craigslist, but it can help sell things faster if you do. You can divide the stash however you want, and as long as you let people know that some have stains, there's no reason I can see not to at least try and sell the stained ones - though of course your buyer may want only the pristine ones. There can be bargaining, but in the original ad you list your price - then potential buyers will email you, and some may try to bargain. It's up to you if you accept that or not.

You might also want to ask this on the Craigslist Parenting board. Basically, say what you said there, and ask for opinions.

Hamilton-zoned PaFo (http://hamilton.craigslist.org/forums/?forumID=39) on CL. BTW, big surprise, I'm Snobahr over there, too.

I haven't actually sold diapers on craigslist, but I spent a lot of time browsing, so here's my theories on your questions...

1. You don't HAVE to take pictures, but it doesn't hurt at all.
2. You might want to post the diapers by size or style, but I saw plenty of stashes that said "willing to divide."
3. Yup, plenty of people said, "some are stained" and just sold those ones at a discount.
4. I think the bargaining process would depend on if the other person wants to bargain. I saw some that said "price is firm" and others said "or best offer" so hat's up to you.

Good luck!
