Okay, a nice nap, a playful baby, and a husband who let me write for an hour while taking the baby have restored me to a much more cheerful demeanor. With any luck, I'll have a section of the Port Spar chapter ready for posting within the next hour or so. With a little more luck, the Riddock's Dawn will be purchased and outfitted by tomorrow night, and the crew will once again be underway, heading for Salthaven in pursuit of the rest of Gustafus the Green's treasure.
I'm still not having much luck with the dream sequences, though. Never having had (or at least, remembered) a lot of vivid, colourful dreams, I'm having trouble making them real to myself. But i'll figure it out. The dream sequences are necessary for Captain Salvatore to navigate by. The glowing statue is projecting what the Sea Witch wants us to do, which is come to her and save her. With his skill at navigation, it should be a strong enough dream for him to find the general location of the island. In the meantime, though, he'll stop by Salthaven, that as-yet-unnamed pirate port in the Spicers, and at least one island with natives and statues that isn't on the charts.
