Piet has tomorrow off, so I'm going to get as much writing done as possible, on the Phelippe book. I am at the point now where I need to start considering titles. With some concerted effort, there's a slim possibility I could get through the climax this week. I'm also going to try to accomplish some research into ancient Greece, perhaps even Minoan culture. I want a richly detailed world for the new dolphin book, and I'm prepared to spend a lot of time developing that before I write the book (which will be next summer, probably, so I'm not even starting to think through characters and plots yet. I want the setting-level conflicts to be very nicely laid out before I start fitting character-level and quest-type conflicts into that.)

We have a family dinner in the evening, and we have some cleaning to do preparatory to a houseguest later in the week. It's the last real week of summer - next week I'm back at work.

Oh my.... That's something I always have trouble with -- inventing a world before I invent the characters in it ... It always seems backwards to invent the characters and their events and then try to fit a world around it, which is how I've been doing it ... I'd very much like to follow how you go about it. Do I have to be admittted into one of your blogs to be able to track it?

I gather you're not on my writing filter? Would you like to be?

Okay, you are on the filter, so you're going to get a good look at how I build a world over the next few months. I won't be ready to write the book until next summer due to family and job considerations, so I'll be fiddling with it off and on until then.

Thanks.

As for having a whole year to watch the world get built, that's fine. I expect it takes a while, and rushing it would probably spoil it.

I rushed it with the last dolphin book, and did indeed spoil it, so I'm taking my time with this one.
