I don't see this thing making it over on this side of the pond. However, the UK has all these really cool small cars that I think Americans would love to drive. They're much bigger than this one, but way small than what we North Americans would call a small car. Still, totally electric. That's cool. One reason why Europe will go for smaller cars is that they live in such dense cities. Also, if the UK is any example, the rail system provides a nice alternative to cars for regional trips. We don't have anything like that here in the US even on the East Coast. I wish we could get good train systems because they're really nice, especially when their integrated with local mass transit.
I wouldn't be able to buy one of the two-door models, because it's impractical for me to own a vehicle that can't accommodate my children. So, if we were going to buy one of them, we'd need to keep another car anyway, for the kids. Those cars will be practical for families when they start having back seats.
In other respects, though, it's the perfect in-city car.
Southern Ontario has a decent rail system, integrated at a few spots with local transit, called the GO. It needs more lines and to go further into the Golden Horseshoe, with more trains at all times of the day, but it's great if you're travelling anywhere between Oakville and Oshawa.
Plus, if this is the current state of the art in electric cars, it's pretty damned hopeful. Wonder what kind of electric cars will come after this one and the one that Tesla Inc has developed.
