velvetpageI just played half of the meanest game of settlers I've ever played online.
I was losing, hadn't built a single road, and they kept putting the robber on my only wood spot. Then they cut me off, twice, when I did manage to build a road. By the time I made up an excuse about the baby waking up and me having to go, so they wouldn't get mad when I left, I was stuck at three points because there was no where else to go. I couldn't connect my cities, I couldn't build any more settlements, and every single time one of them rolled a seven, the robber landed on my territory. I was at three points and the three of them were at seven, six and six respectively. I don't think I said anything offensive. In fact, all I did was ask where they were from and comment that it was not surprising I was playing with all Europeans, since most of North America was not yet awake.

rainwolf downloaded the Java Settlers for me, so I can play against bots any time I like from my desktop. And I like chatting with the Europeans I meet on there - most of them are really nice, and no meaner than I am myself. This was not that kind of group.
I'll leave it a few hours and play again later in the day. Maybe. Maybe I'll just stick to bots for the day - at least they only hit the person who's winning.
