The doghouse

In five and a half years of marriage, I don't think I've ever been this upset with my husband.
In the trunk of the family car at this very moment are: a case of clementines, two bottles of pop, pumpernickel bread with spinach dip, fancy Christmas cookies, more mundane chocolate chip cookies, tortilla chips and salsa, and a cheescake.
All of these items were supposed to have been dropped off at my school before my husband left the city for work. I can't remember why, exactly, I couldn't have the car today. I know there was a reason, but it seems to me the reason ceased to matter last evening. But we didn't change our plans for the day, because I knew I could trust my husband to bring the treats into school as planned. He wouldn't leave fourteen people hungry all day by forgetting, would he?
He did.
I brought almost nothing to school to eat. Most of the teachers bring very little on Fridays, because someone is always responsible for treats on Fridays. So all of us are hungry. My kids figured out by eleven o'clock that they'd better not push my buttons today. I'm tired, I'm hungry, and I'm annoyed. They've been rather mouselike all day.
Piet, what are you going to do to make this up to me? It had better be good.

I'm sorry. I was almost in Toronto by the time I remembered.

What can YOU think of to make me feel better?

Date: 2004-11-26 08:20 pm (UTC)sympathies!
Last night I worked later than I should. Left work, drove almost out of town....drove all the way back because I thought I might have left something switched on on the bench....
I'm picking up Mum's door rattling habits! But sympathy. rarely does a moments forgetfulness get you publicly pilloried!
