Sleepless in Hamilton

It shows just how tired I am that I didn't figure out what's up with Dragonlass until five o'clock on the fourth night of sleeplessness. She's got another ear infection. I should have realized this two days ago, because I was told it might come back and that the most likely symptom was pain while she was lying down. But it didn't occur to me until I woke up on the futon (having moved downstairs in the hope of getting a bit of sleep - at least that worked) and realized that she was still crying at the other end of the house. I went up, gave her some infant motrin, laid her down, and she settled right away. So either she's a motrin junkie, or it worked really fast on the swelling in her ear. Either way, I'm calling the doctor as soon as I get a break - i.e. 10:15.
I wish I had the kind of baby who pulled on her ear when it hurt. But then, she's so wonderful in every other way, I suppose she has to be the agent of grandparental revenge in at least one respect.
I found a Reader's Theatre activity that will take up most of today's two periods, and if I aim for a performance, it should take up tomorrow's as well. It ties in nicely with Ancient Civilizations, which is the next social studies unit, and my kids love doing reader's theatre. I've photocopied them with only one bung-up in the photocopier, which is a record so far this year, and I have three follow-up activities that I can get social studies marks for. So that's done, at least for now.
I'm going to my dad's for dinner tonight, though I think I forgot to tell Piet that. Piet, I'm going to my dad's for dinner tonight! I think I might call him (my dad, that is) and ask him to pick up the baby's spare car seat from Oma's and pick us both up from our various schools. He needs to feel needed, and I need to reduce my bus time this afternoon. With any luck, he'll be prepared to look after her for half an hour while I go work out. With any luck, I'll have some drive to work out tonight.
I need to go decide what we're doing in Social Studies. Any bets on how many tries it will take to get another class set out of the photocopier?
