It's eight o'clock. So far this morning, I've done a load of laundry, fed the baby twice, bathed her from head to adorable feet, gotten breakfast for myself and Elizabeth, and talked to my MIL about plans for the week. I feel like it should be lunchtime.

The morning bath came about due to really messy hair (after the bath that sparked the pictures, Claire had a bad night; while I was giving her medicine for her teeth, she turned her head, and the dropper ended up squirting into her hair) and a really messy diaper, about which I will not go into details, except to say that it sparked the load of laundry. This needed to be done anyway, though. When Claire starts running out of clean clothes, you know there's a big pile of laundry. I could dress that kid differently every day for nearly three weeks, and only run out of socks.

I talked to my sister last night, and warned her that I'm going to be checking in on her quite often until the baby's born. She said she's two cm dilated, and talked about the pretty hefty braxton-hicks contractions she's been getting. That was when Claire decided it was bedtime, so I didn't get the chance to point out that those braxton-hicks were actually early labour, and she'd been in it for about a week. I didn't want to get her hopes up, because it's quite possible to be in that stage of labour for several weeks, and she really, really wants the baby to come soon. Luckily, if she and I are right about the dates, then the doctor's 41 weeks is actually closer to 42, so there's a good chance the baby will come before the day they want to induce her (March 1.) I'm hoping she'll go this week.

I'm thinking I'll take a snack in for the nurses when I go to visit my sister and the baby - maybe some cheese, a gift-size red confetti pepper jelly, and a box of crackers. I hope the nurse who took care of me the most ends up being Alanna's nurse as well. She was wonderful.

Later today, I'll be writing the nine-month developmental post.

That's all for this morning, and Claire wants some Rice Krispies. (Don't worry, she'll get other food too - she just likes being able to feed herself.) Have a good morning, friends list!)

You did all that before 8?

I got up at 7:30, and I want to go back to bed already. But I guess I can get some stuff done around here instead.

Thanks for setting the bar so high. mutter-mutter-grumble I don't know how you do it.

I don't really get much choice. When your baby has medicine in her hair and poop all up her back, and won't sit still long enough to be cleaned up normally, you dump her in the tub. Then you take the soiled sheets out from under her towel-wrapped self and throw them in the wash.

Na, I still managed to get a decent amount of sleep, and THAT is what counts.

I can deal with ANYTHING, as long as I've slept.

And since today is a holiday, and I've got sick but sleeping kids, GUESS WHAT I AM GOING TO DO? :D

Did you ever figure out what the rash was?

I'm thinking the most likely explanation is a minor allergy to something in the laundry detergent, so I'm going to use up the sample packages of Ivory Snow that I have around (I have half a dozen, and each one will do two or three loads) and see if it goes away. It's not as bad as it was, so that's good.
