This was great--thanks for posting. I forwarded it to a couple cellists I know. I've always loved the piece, but I do find it dreadfully overplayed.

And yeah, the progression is really common. I wrote a lullaby as a present for my matron of honor's first born (she was pregnant with Grace when she walked down the aisle, in fact), and it was only some time later, when I was trying to record it, that I realized the Canon was a perfect countermelody. Ugh. Came out very nicely though.
