I have questions to answer for a new friend, and if I don't do it now I'll probably procrastinate until it doesn't get done, as happened with my last set of interview questions. So, the Interview Meme for [livejournal.com profile] mizkit:

1. Who are you? :)

I'm a 31-year-old SAHM on maternity leave with my second child; I'm an elementary teacher and an author, with one book awaiting publication by Sanguine through Sofawolf and another sitting in a state of near-completion on my hard drive; I'm somewhere on the continuum of furrydom, though I've never worn a tail; I'm a socialist Canadian with a lot of reasonably-well-informed opinions about American politics, as well as Canadian politics; and I'm an LJ addict.

2. What era out of the past would you choose to live in, if you were no longer permitted to live in the modern era?

Probably Elizabethan England, provided I was of the noble class, or at least from a rich merchant family. The truth is there isn't any time I'd like to live in other than the present, if I had to be what my ancestors were. The working class is only two generations in the past for me.

3. What figure out of history would you like to sit down and talk with?

William Shakespeare. I want to know who the other woman was, assuming it wasn't his wife, and I'd like the opportunity to pick his brains a bit. There's also a scholarly interest there. I remember once having a discussion in someone's journal about how, though Shakespeare's writing looks like modern English, the way he spoke would likely be unintelligible to us today, due to the fact that his era saw the birth of standardized spellings, and there have been several big vowel shifts since then. I'd like to test the theory, and figure out how to speak Shakespearean English. (Did I mention I have a barely-more-than-layman's interest in historical linguistics?)

4. How'd you end up at my LJ?

I came to your journal through [livejournal.com profile] ursulav's link about publishing a few days ago. I came to HER journal after meeting her at Anthrocon 2005, where her table happened to be located right next to the Sanguine table. I came to the Sanguine table through my husband, who writes role-playing supplements and games for Sanguine. This is turning into an Ursula-type moral where you get a career by being nice to people on random furry MUCKs, so I'll stop there.

5. What's the meaning of it all?

I'm a Christian, most of the time, but I'm lacking the fundamental hubris that claims to have all the answers. I'm on this journey to try to find out, but I'm not expecting to actually be sure of anything until the journey's at an end.

There's a Douglas Adams quote pushing and poking in an effort to get out of my brain, but I'm not giving in to it. Nope. Sorry.
