The Last Crusade meets Independence Day - only better than either.

It had the marvelous, rich and comedic backstory so typical of Indiana Jones. It had the fast-paced adventuring which only Indiana and his semi-trustworthy female sidekick ever did well at. It had the "save the world" thing, and it was all high-tech enough to make you forget that that future never actually happened. And the sepia tones gave it that truly pulp feel that Jones should have had, if they'd had the technology available at the time to do that.

Far and away the best movie I've seen since Return of the King. Also, the best movie of its genre I have ever seen.
