My tendency towards verbosity has been severely curtailed by my recent enforced reduction in typographical velocity.

I composed that line in the shower about ten minutes ago. Yes, it's twenty to two in the afternoon. That should give you an idea what my morning has been like. Here's another hint: I'm really not sure where to put the dividing line between this morning and last night.

Still, a shower does wonders for one's outlook, and I feel much more human in my ratty t-shirt and wet hair than I did in the housecoat that smells of spit-up.

I'm back to one-handed typing, so I'll go read my friends list now.

One-handed typing is better than three-handed typing.

Well, better for readability. From the view of a baby's progress, attempting to type is probably a pretty good sign of development in some area or another.

Elizabeth likes to type, though I have to hit the caps lock key for her to connect the letters on the screen with the ones she's hitting on the keyboard. Still, she knows where to find several letters now. She types, hits enter, and then I translate for Daddy or whoever's at the other end of the chat. It works well.

Claire's still at the flailing stage - it'll be a while before she even flails to much purpose.

Ugh! Boy do I hear you here! It's like someone's put both my hands behind my back and I'm typing with my nose. I seriously think that pianists like us are particularly hard hit when one-handed typing comes in. Most pianists I know are excellent typists. Not to mention that I'm seriously long-winded to begin with.

Thank Goodness Max has become a little more independent of late.

When I get going, I can type well over a hundred words per minute with few errors - and even fewer errors when I'm typing from a script than when I'm typing from my head. Sometime in September of each school year, I take my kids into the computer lab and arrange to "help" them type stories into the computer. I can do in two minutes what takes them a laborious half hour to accomplish, and I correct their grammar and spelling and teach them about the corrections as I go. It's worth it for the awe factor.

And you're right - I've never met a pianist who wasn't also a good typist, though I know quite a few good typists who can't find middle C.

Well, despite the hecticness of it, at least you seem to be feeling better! This is good. :-)
