Apparently, there is a release date for the seventh Harry Potter book. It's coming out on my birthday next year - that is, 07/07/07.

The birthday celebration plans for my thirty-second birthday have officially begun, folks.

First of all, my wonderful husband knows exactly what to get me for my birthday, but may need some reminders about how to get it. Forget mail-order - the mail in Canada doesn't come on Saturdays. No, I want it ordered from the bookstore in the mall, so that he can slip out fairly early that morning (don't worry, I won't make you hang out there at midnight, Piet) and pick it up that very day.

Second, there will be no big birthday parties that day. I will give a couple of hours to my kids, but not to the rest of my family. They can have a party for me the night before, and one on Sunday night - I should have had time to read the whole book by then.

Third - I'm thinking we should have a party the week before. Canada day will be the previous Sunday, which makes the stat holiday the Monday. I'm declaring a barbeque or some other entertainment that weekend, for everyone within driving distance. Don't worry, you don't have to RSVP for nearly fourteen months. :)

Hey that's great news! I'll mark my calendar. :-)
(OK, so we may not make it for the party...but I'll definitely make a date with my local bookstore). The 5th book came out on my wedding day (6/21/03), so I know what it's like to have the whole world celebrate your special day. All the bookstores have little countdown signs, so you can look forward to that.

Wow, book 7. Man, what will I have to look forward to after the series is over?

She'll take a brief break, and then start writing prequels about his parents or some such. They won't let her stop at this point - her publishers would be royally pissed if she tried.

Hmm, I remember that day. I left my two-month-old baby to pick up my copy at the local bookstore, and then spent the next two days nursing with one hand and holding that massively huge book in the other. For a sleep-deprived new mom, I made pretty short work of it - I think I finished it on the Monday.

Well, I have to say that I wasn't quite that dedicated on that particular book-release. Something about getting married that day...strangely though, no one gave us the book for our wedding. I thought for sure there would be a copy on the gift table, particularly since we had a "harry potter cake" at our rehearsal dinner (My MaOH's hubby had his birthday that day). We had to buy the book on our honeymoon...and we had a few other things to do than read at that point. :-D

Heehee. An auspicious day indeed for a book launch!

Alternatively, you could have your party the weekend AFTER, because then everyone can gossip about the book and what they thought of it. ;)

Does this mean I have to actually start reading the books if I want to come to the party? ;D

Not if you don't want to. Piet hasn't read them yet. :) Jenn has my first two - you can borrow them if you want them when she's done. With the recent Household Reorganization, I actually know exactly where they all are - and they're all together!!!

I know, but you have to ask for the special delivery at the higher price, and Piet forgot to do that, so I didn't get mine until the following Thursday, by which point I was going absolutely wild. It's cheaper and not much more work to pick it up locally.

My birthday is 3 days sooner.
