While looking through the newly reorganized photo albums at
pyat 's parents' house, we came across a newspaper clipping regarding an anniversary. His aunt and uncle (I've never quite figured out the exact relationship; I think Aunt Amy is actually a cousin of Pyat's grandfather) were celebrating their sixtieth wedding anniversary in December of 1991.
They are still alive, still living in their own home on several acres' property just outside the city. They never had children, so my mother-in-law makes sure to visit them regularly and check on them. Until recently, they still had a big Airdale dog named Barney. Uncle Frank has been retired longer than Pyat's parents have been married. They look forward to Elizabeth's weekly visits. And they will soon celebrate their seventy-third wedding anniversary.
Wow. What a testament to marriage.
