"Breastfeeding is an unsentimental metaphor for how love works, in a way. You don't decide how much or how deeply to love - you respond to the beloved and give with joy exactly as much as they want." Marni Jackson in her book "The Mother Zone."
I feel very distant from this experience on several levels.
I was never breast fed and I don't know if I will have children. Plus I'm feeling a bit hormonal this morning.
In the meantime, feel free to enjoy the experience vicariously, and hopefully pick up on some tips for when it's your turn. :)
Thanks, I don't think I am so unfamiliar with motherly things because of my experience in nursing, friends with children and my rather large family. On a personal, one-on-one level I am inexperienced.
You know, this is the second time I've heard someone describe love with the metaphor of breast-feeding. You're both very special women; thanks for sharing.
