Okay, have any of you come across a baby or children's shampoo which really is tear-free? I've been using a Johnson's one, with a bit of a moisturizer in it. Water alone doesn't make her cry, but the shampoo does, and I'm getting tired of it. She has a lot of hair, so it's quite a problem.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Taki says that Shriek does pretty well with the orange bottle of Johnson's. It might be the moisturizer that makes her cry...

I didn't even realize I'd bought the kind with moisturizer, because they look almost exactly alike. I'll try the regular stuff, but I think I'll buy a sample size at first. Thanks!

We just use the same soap as for the rest of her (usually Johnson's bedtime bath) -- since she hates getting water on her face at all, we're pretty good about keeping the soap out of her eyes... most of the time. *sigh* We hold a cloth on her forehead when rinsing her hair.

I don't buy the "no more tears" bit anyway -- if it stung my own eyes to use it (I liked the smell of it), I figure it's not a guarantee. :P

We can't seem to keep the soap out of her eyes, because her hair is too long and she refuses to tip her head back to let us rinse it. We've tried teaching her to lean forward, which sometimes works, but then water from the sides of her head runs into her eyes. There's no good way around this.

I should find out if Johnson's has a website, and if this no more tears thing is an actual guarantee. I might be able to get my money back, at least.

That's an excellent idea -- it'll be interesting to see what you find out.

We recently tried the baptismal hold to try to get the soap out of her hair more easily (usually I rub her hair repeatedly with a wet washcloth to get the soap out, which admittedly takes a while, but it's less likely to result in chaos) -- you can imagine how much fun this is with a wet, soapy, squirming, burly, unwilling toddler! However, it does speed up the process, somewhat. I'm thinking of encouraging her to dump cups of water over her head, since it's the whole water-on-the-head thing that really freaks her out (not at the splash pad, however -- weird).
