Elizabeth is sick.

Maman is in the process of getting sick. This process is aided significantly by Elizabeth's reaction to decongestants. The box says that some children will get sleepy, and others will engage in "frenetic activity". It turns out ELizabeth, like her father, is one of the squirrelly ones.

We put her down around nine with no meds. At 1:40 she woke up. By 2:00, we knew we had to give her something - she was crying with a little "it hurts" cry. We gave her the tylenol cold. She went to sleep soon after.

At 4:30, she woke up again. She stayed up until 6:45, even after I gave her a dose of infant Motrin around 6:00, and a bottle of milk. They worked for another two hours. Mind you, my night, and Piet's, were shot at that point.

I'm thinking this is an excellent time to use the hotline every parent knows best - 1-800-GRANDMA. I'm sure Oma would love to come, catch a cold, and look after Elizabeth while Maman sleeps. Or at least, if I beg, she'll probably do it.

I am so tired.

Oh, dear. *hug* After the chaos of the past several days, this is all you need! :( I hope you both feel better soon.

Oma, as it turns out, is unavailable, so I'm going to nap when the baby naps today. If I can. I usually can't fall asleep in the middle of the day.

At least Elizabeth is more active than she was yesterday. She may actually tire herself out enough for a good long nap soon.

*hugs right back* How are your sleep issues coming?

It's still totally random in our house -- though I am more and more convinced that she sleeps better with us (even if we don't sleep better with her). I don't know how we can replicate conditions such that she will sleep elsewhere, though. :P

I hope that feeling sick will be enough to let you sleep -- and that Elizabeth lets you, too.

She appears to be better this morning - less runny, at any rate. I should check for new teeth. That's probably the culprit. She was drooling a lot yesterday, and the Motrin helped a lot more than the decongestant, which says something about the source of the pain.
