velvetpageWe're not up quite as early this morning, but the reason for that is that she was up four times during the night. I don't think she woke up completely more than once, but she was crying and fussing with her eyes closed, and I got up to her. I think she's not feeling well. It may be more teeth. It was not a fun night.
I'm sleepy, she doesn't want me typing so she's doing all sorts of cute and annoying things to get me to stop, and so far, it has not been a fun morning, either.
Piet comes home today, thank God. My mother volunteered to look after the sprout while I worked out, which is another blessing.
I have only one more week of real summer vacation. This time next week, I'll be going into school to start setting up my class for back-to-school, which is the following Tuesday. On the one hand, I'm looking forward to this new job, to seeing what my students are like, to starting a Salad Club amongst the staff, to teaching French again. On the other hand, it's going to be a very busy year, and my time with Elizabeth will drop to about three hours a day. I'm also nervous, as every teacher is about the start of the new school year. What if my kids are horrible? What if one kid turns out to have the kind of parents who call the Superintendent to complain every time the teacher does something they don't like? The cycle of stress has begun, and it's not going to improve. New-year stress will soon be replaced with regular job stress.
We tried on Elizabeth's halloween costume last night. It's a plush Dolphin outfit - a jacket with a tail and a hood. We bought it last year from Costco for about five bucks, because it was remaindered from a year or two before that. It fit her perfectly. I hope it still does, two months from now. We have a backup plan, though. There's always the Spiderman pj's. And if that happens, I know some other babies who might be able to get some wear out of the Dolphin suit. I really want her to wear it, though - she could join our Ironclaw game as one of the Dolphin mages!
Baby wants breakfast, so we're off.
