Well, [livejournal.com profile] pyat , I have some wonderful news for you. On Tuesday, when you wake up in your own, soft bed next to your beautiful wife, to the sound of your baby crying across the hall, it will be you who gets up, and stays up, with her. I don't care if it is six o'clock in the morning. [livejournal.com profile] rainwolf, please don't be upset if my loving husband decides he really has to sleep in the car coming home on Monday. Whether he goes to bed at the same time as the baby or five hours later, he is the one getting up with her the next morning.

I'm very, very tired. I haven't been sleeping deeply the past two nights, and the baby was up shortly after six for the third morning in a row. I really miss my free time at this time of day. Today I just wanted it to sleep in a bit.

We had a good game of Settlers of Catan last night. By "good", I mean I won, but it was a squeaker - Daniel would have won the next turn. It's his own fault, though - if he'd been counting and thinking the way Marnie was, he would have known not to trade with me so I could build. She knew, but didn't tell him because her game wasn't going well and she wanted it over.

We talked about the clothes I'd bought (when [livejournal.com profile] pyat gets home with the digital camera, I'll do a little LJ fashion show), we talked about our kids, we talked a bit about her thesis, we talked about her take on the cry-it-out thing (which is different from [livejournal.com profile] jinzi 's in one or two respects, but she was glad it had worked for me) and generally had a good girlfriend-gab session. She's been so busy all summer, that hasn't happened in a while.

I bought three tops yesterday - a pink one in faux swede that looks like a million bucks, a burgundy one in silky polyester which will look even better than it does now when I lose another inch or so in key spots, and a mauve blouse, almost exactly the colour of Elizabeth's bedroom walls, which looks business-like and nice but not fabulous. I was happy with all three, and I was especially happy to put back all the XL's I took into the changeroom for comparison. They were too big!

Elizabeth is tired of her toys in here and wants some mommy-love, so we're heading downstairs to get breakfast. The start of another day! At 6:53 a.m.!

Yikes, she's turning into quite an early riser! Good thing she still naps in the day.
I love the look of faux suede! I've got a couple pair of pants in it, but they're still too small to be comfortable.
I'm off for an early bird peek at the books! Let me know when you can come down. Is your sister still able to make it? It'll be fun! :D

My other sister told me yesterday that she might be coming, too. Not asked, told. I'm not sure whether to be happy about this or not. On the one hand, more people means more baby joy to go around. On the other hand, they're uninvited.

I dug out my two new pair of black pants, intending to shorten them this morning and thus have one pair to wear this afternoon. I got them nicely cut, straight because I used a quilter's rotary cutter and ruler, and measured out a perfect one-inch hem. I got the sewing machine set up, and fixed Elizabeth's toy stroller seat with the thread that was in there already.

Then I went looking for black thread.

Oh, well. Ottawa Street is just a few blocks away, and Fabricland opens right about now. I still intend to wear one pair of those pants today!

No black thread? Isn't it always the way? It's like the time I was going to make pizza, had everything else set up, and finding out my sister threw out the cheese grater because she thought it was too old and beat up. Without telling me. Or getting a new one. Sounds like your sisters get on your nerves at times too. If Cynthia get on my last nerve, I leave quietly before she thinks to come with me. She often spots me anyways!

They have their moments. The middle one is usually okay, nerve-wise, but the youngest sister, Heather, is what Alanna calls "high maintenance". She can be a ton of fun, but don't get in her way when she's upset.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: I found some french kids books of various ages (the reading level, and the book itself) and scooped them for you :)

Thanks! I'll drop you a line when she goes to sleep. I'll then be able to predict what time we'll make it out there.

Right now, I'm going to drop the baby at Oma's and work out. (It's like I'm made of clockwork this morning! I hope I don't wind down too suddenly!)

Sounds good!
Nah, with any luck, the workout will leave you with more energy instead of less. Well, here's to hoping :)

It's just after one, and she's been down about fifteen minutes. Assuming she wakes up about an hour and a half later, which is her norm, we should hit the road for the far reaches of Du. . . uh, the Greater City of Hamilton around 2:30. See you around 3:00! (We really should exchange telephone numbers. And if Piet already has yours, this is his fault - he didn't write it in the address book.)

3:00 sounds good! About 5 minutes ago I was thinking much the same thing. I know Ian and Piet have talked on the phone a couple times before. Men :) Email on its way!
Your number appears to be scrawled on a paper discovered in the phone area, I'm going to copy it over before it gets lost :)
