This is it, ladies and gentlemen - my little girl is standing behind me on the computer chair, playing with my hair and uttering profundities such as, "I know" and "BabababaBA!" and "Bye bye kids" - not to mention a few that my adult ears simply can't decipher.

This is the way life is supposed to be.

My sister's three-year-old daughter climbed up in bed, curled against her, looked up and said "Mommy, you my best fwiend." the other day. [livejournal.com profile] takibabe knows whereof you speak.

I don't even have to ask these days - most of the time, I pick her up and she puts her arms around me, hugs me so tight I can barely breathe, and says, "Mama! Mama!" in my ear a few dozen times. Sometimes she'll accompany all this with some kisses. We do eskimo kisses, too, which I don't think she does with anyone else. I'm telling ya, labour is worth it. :)

*G* There's just something about a little girl that's too cute for words.

I want a little boy first, though.

As soon as I realized I was pregnant, I knew I wanted a girl first. Luckily, she complied. :) She's been a really easy baby, too - no colic, sleeps fairly well compared to some other babies I know, and she's so smart.

All of this means, of course, that the next one will be colicky, sleep only when I have to be somewhere, and otherwise prove to me how lucky I was with the first. :)

*glee* Isn't this age just the best? They're lovely from the start, but the more interactive they get, the more fun they are.

Last night when I took the bunny upstairs to try to get her down to sleep, I said "say goodnight to Daddy" and she leaned over and kissed him, and we adults just about burst with happiness. I know you know what I mean when I say that no matter what state the house is in, or how our days have been, there always seems to be joy radiating from the place, because she's there.

The spontaneous hugs, the acquisition of family members' names, the blown kisses, the baby laughter when you tip her upside down, the way she makes her dolls dance with her, peek-a-boo games using every conceiveable concealment - oh yeah, I know what you mean.

This is why we became parents.

Exactly. I highly recommend it, for those who want to, however they can make it possible. Parenthood is exhausting, painful, frustrating at times... but it's totally worth it. Best. Gift. EVER. :D
