In the interests of making married life a little less hectic, Pyat and I have started consolidating doctors, dentists, etc, over the last few years. Well, recently a new doctor joined the medical group to which Piet's family doctor belongs. Piet's sister is a nurse there, so she got Elizabeth and myself onto the list for the new family doctor. We had our first check-up today - more of a meet-the-doctor than an actual medical. He's hot! That's perfectly safe to say, because he's also married, with two small children, one of them just 10 months old and possibly, eventually, going to the same school Elizabeth will be attending. The office is a twenty-minute walk away, right in the neighbourhood, and includes a pharmacy, lab facility, chiropractor, physiotherapy, and a few other odds and ends, right on site. The nurses are encouraged to develop specialties, so there's a lactation consultant, and they're always looking at ways to expand. They also have an on-call doctor at night and on weekends - in fact, they're the on-call centre for a much larger group of doctors, which means each doctor does about one weekend a year. It's an excellent arrangement.

I've switched to Piet's dentist, so now I'm trying to convince him that in spite of a downtown office and the associated paid parking, my eye doctor is worth keeping.

I realized today that Elizabeth is just about ready for the next size in diapers. She flirted with the doctor and watched the aquarium fish with intense interest in the waiting room. She kept pointing an announcing to the room at large, "Fiss! Fiss! Maman, Fiss!" She brightened the day of a few sick people.
