Date: 2005-09-27 08:04 pm (UTC)I'm 26. I live with my boyfriend, an art student, in a townhouse in a town just outside of San Francisco.
I finished my first major novel last year, and have been struggling to edit it ever since. I hate editing, and the process has turned me into a bit of a bitch. I hit people who tell me to "just take a break for a while and it will be easier". (Okay, not really, but I want to.) I'll be doing NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) for my fourth year this year, hopefully going for my third win. I've worked on The Novel for all four years, flagrantly breaking the rules. I'm just a bad girl that way ;)
I have two cats, Cordelia and don Francisco. Both are rescue cats, but both have a lot of 'purebreed' in them -- Cordelia's a Maine Coon mix, and don Francisco's a Siamese mix.
I also enjoy handcrafts, such and beading and chainmaille, and my current obsession is knitting. I was a costume design major in school, in part because I love to sew, but also because I felt the theatre curriculum, supplimented with some English courses, would benefit my writing better than an English degree with a Creative Writing focus. The most useful (for my writing) two classes I took were a Screenwriting course, which taught me the importance of structure, and a Directing course, which taught me about managing tension and setting up tableaus.
My posts cover a wide range of stuff. Sometimes I'll just talk about how I'm doing and what's up with me. Sometimes I'll post pictures of my cats or my craft projects. Sometimes I'll post links to games or articles or web pages that amuse me. During National Novel Writing Month, I do an opt-in deal where people can see an exceprt from what I've written that day and read a daily rant about the craft of writing and how much I want to kill all of my characters.
I'm not too fond of Drama, so I don't tend to friend people who partake of it. I also tend to gravitate towards friending people whose experiences are vastly different than mine, people who have a lot to teach me. As such, I think my friends are as levelheaded, thoughtful, and interesting group of people as you'll find. But that's just my opinion ;)
If you check out my journal, be sure and visit the photo gallery (it's in the sidebar) for pictures of my cats, some of the people in my life, and some of my finished craft projects.

Date: 2005-09-27 08:22 pm (UTC)I keep trying to take more, but Cordelia and don Francisco enjoy tormenting me. They'll curl up together in their cat bed, as adorable as you please, but the moment I go to get the camera, one or both of them will wander off! Or they'll only do it while the camera has no batteries.
I'll probably get some new ones of don Francisco soon, though. He's really grown a lot since the first pictures I took.

Date: 2005-09-27 08:32 pm (UTC)My sis-in-law and brother have dogs that will sit patiently (in clothing no less!) while they have their picture taken. My cats? Hear the camera start and just have to move...

Date: 2005-09-27 09:26 pm (UTC)I did luck out with their coloring. Cordelia is really striking, especially in the summer. In the winter, she puts on a heavy light tan colored undercoat that mutes her coloring a lot (but also makes her soooooo floofy!) don Francisco looks like he's wearing stripey stockings. I'm thinking maybe he's a Spanish pirate ;)

Date: 2005-09-28 03:21 pm (UTC)My one kitty is all grey- though around her nose it almost looks like she dipped it in powder. Her coloring doesn't change much season to season- I'm sure if I let her out she would just get furrier. :) The boy... given his maniac ways at almost 2 I should rethink the 'I wish I had him as a kitten' thing...

Date: 2005-09-28 03:31 pm (UTC)Cordelia was a hellion when she was a kitten. Compeltely batshit insane. Sometimes I think that she would do things specifically because I didn't want her to do them. I had to duct tape our little christmas tree to the shelf it was on because she'd knock it over almost immediately if I let her anywhere near it, otherwise.
She also had this thing where she'd work up speed, go tearing down the hall, and bash into this floor to ceiling window in the bedroom. Then she'd shake her head, back up, and do it again. She'd do this over and over again. At 2am.
Also at 2am, she'd suddenly decide to start pouncing our feet. With claws.
Francisco is really calm by comparison to her.

Date: 2005-09-27 08:22 pm (UTC)Hi! I'm Anne, soon to be married ( 11 Days!! ) to my wonderful Beau (as he's known on teh intarnet), and 'mother' to two chowderhea... er, cats. :) Sasha (8) and Leopolde (almost 2), and I talk a lot about them. Especially the Danger Boy! (his superhero name, she's known as The Grey)
I am currently a Netflix devotee and am getting my tv show fix via seasons on DVD. My recent fascinations are Babylon 5 and Firefly, though Jason Carter just isn't as cute as I remembered... Still love the character. Since I can't just do one thing at a time I cross-stitch or crotchet while the shows are on.
Writing is something I've been interested in since I was about 9 years old. We got our first computer at that time (an Apple IIe) and I taught myself how to type by writing stories. I attempted to participate in last year's NaNo- however during that month I packed, moved, unpacked and looked for a new job while trying to adjust to living with my Beau. So I excused myself. :) Hopefully this year will be different- most especially since I have an actual idea! ;)
So this is me, my journal is often memes, cat stories and other day to day stuff- feel free to stop on by. :)

Date: 2005-09-27 08:24 pm (UTC)In general, I tend to be an optimistic person although I occasionally tie myself up into knots about certain issues. My fiancee more than earns his keep with his skill at untying me. My journal is mostly for me to keep a record of what is happening to me at various points in my life and for those that care to keep track of me. As such, it is frequently reasonable boring, occasionally rantish, and every now and then interesting information pops up.
Most of my posts involve either my work, my relationship or my family, but my friends kinda range all over the place. I've got a number of Canadian teachers on my f-list that I picked up on one or the other of the teaching communities I'm part of, a couple of old high-school friends, some random people from various part of the world that I've picked up from Friends of Friends. They're all good folk. I tend to avoid over-blown dramatics, I get enough of that within my own family, thanks, so most of them are people I've picked up on for their wit, intelligence and amusing commentary on life.
A fair number of them are just plain insane, of course. But then, normal people worry me.

Date: 2005-09-28 02:12 am (UTC)I also have two cats, inherited from my family. They're 8-year-old littermates. P.I.T.A. (Pain In The ...) is a peach-point Siamese with some tabby markings in his undercoat, and Pepa is a brindle calico, and the sweetest, most ladylike cat evar.
Da HusBrat just got out of the army, a little less than six months after coming home from Iraq, and we're in a state of flux, figuring out where to go next. We relocated to Texas three years ago, and ended up being infected, so we're staying.
I try to stay away from memes, unless they seriously interest me. I update pretty sporadically, and my updates tend to be either philosophical ramblings or minutia about my life.

Date: 2005-09-28 07:51 am (UTC)Just in the process of opening up an effects shop with my partner, and moving house to be nearer to said shop.
I'm an avid larper, and have to return to the UK every so often to get my fix. I'm also very fond of hyenas, and things monsterous.
