Toddlers and characters

Today, while out with Oma and Auntie Krista, Elizabeth pointed to a spiderman figurine and said, "Spide". Then, one aisle later, she repeated the performance. She did it until Oma finally bought her a Spiderman doll. She has, naturally, refused to repeat the performance for her father, though I've heard it twice now.
I'm a bit confused. I've never pointed out Spiderman to her; neither has Oma. I didn't realize that her half-hour two or three nights a week watching forty-year-old cartoons with Daddy had rubbed off on her that much. I mean, she watches the Muppet Show more often, and I've never heard her say Kermit.
In any case, I really need to cut some TV time out of her daily routine. This event, though cute, only serves to drive home that point.
