I feel much better about my wardrobe now.

I bought three pair of pants for thirty dollars total. Two are navy-blue cords, one almost black and the other a bit brighter but still tasteful. They're so incredibly comfy! The third pair are black and fit perfectly except for the belly. They're maternity pants, the kind with the adjustable elastic waist. If I wear mostly loose tops over them, it'll hide the extra room for a while at least.

I also got an Eeyore costume for Elizabeth - a plush, one-piece, head-to-toe affair that will be nicely warm with the addition of some sweats underneath it. She's going to love it. I had to pass up the white unicorn costume because it would have fit her last year. I also let slide the pony. The idea with that costume was, dress her up like a princess, strap the pony thingy over the princess costume, and she's a princess riding a horse. It was marvelous, but it was for kids five to seven, and she's not quite that tall yet. She never saw it, so she won't be disappointed. Ah, well. There's always next year. For me, I got a purple-and-black striped witch's hat and a purple sparkly broom. I'll wear the Grim Reaper robe with it that I have from last year, and voilĂ ! Insta-witch! Oh, I also got a purple and black feather boa. I just couldn't resist.

[livejournal.com profile] etherlad got a great smoking jacket that I can't wait to see in an lj icon, and [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae got several odds and ends, including a pirate hat and spiderweb lace stockings. We're considering the idea of combining the Christmas Pudding Party with a Halloween party. That reminds me - I should start nailing down a date for puddings in the near future. They're an expensive proposition and best done soon after Thanksgiving. I've got lots of cherry brandy available, and I can't drink it between now and then (sigh) so that's one expense spared. Who's in for that this year?

I'm in for the party, but I think not so much with the puddings. Fun and yummy though they are, I don't think we managed to get through them all! (And there was that whole weirdness with a couple of them not cooking up right and so on when I was steaming them at home.) Plus, I have to make something different for this year's family thing (in keeping with tradition of never the same thing twice). But! Party? Yes, please. :)

Party party!
I didn't get through all my puddings last year either, but I'd be quite happy to help you with them! It was such a good time last year, I wouldn't want to miss out :)

I've got one left from last year, but I'll need at least one, perhaps two more. How about we do one recipe and divide it up into four small puddings, two for me, one for Jenn, and one for Ani? That way we can steam them all here during the party that follows. :)

I spent way too much on non-essentials today :) I've been really careful lately though, so the damage to the budget shouldn't be so bad. I plan to make the rest of my costume myself.
I love the boa, by the way! If I could wear them without sneezing my head off, I'd probably want to get one :D
