The chest

No, not the one above my belly, though that one's quite nice. The one in the middle of our living room floor.

Until quite recently, it was used to store all of Uncle Frank's clothing. It has a slightly less than beautiful wood veneer on it, and the handles are long strips of the same wood veneer with a bit of brass trim that I'm not crazy about. We took the legs off already - conical things with brass feet circa 1930 up to and including most of the sixties. The chest is livable without them.

So why, you ask, did we saddle ourselves with this piece of furniture?

Well, I answer, one has only to lift the top of it to find out.

It is fully lined in solid cedar. It smells absolutely heavenly. Two of the handles are just for show, but the bottom one is a pull-out drawer I intend to store napkins in. In fact, every doily, napkin, tablecloth, and afghan in my house will be washed and then stored in that chest.

That's actually a fair amount of laundry, so I'd better get moving.
