It's a large Air France airbus, with approximately 300 people on board. Several busloads of passengers have been evacuated. It is still on fire, from the tail, and it's lucky that the plane was landing instead of taking off, or we'd have a crater where the runway used to be.

It's sitting in a ditch a stone's throw from the 401 highway. Guess who won't be home for dinner tonight? Piet takes that highway every day.

Every station that has anything to do with Toronto is showing non-stop coverage. Apparently CNN has made noises about terrorists. A plane slides off the runway in the middle of a torrential downpour/lightning storm, and it's terrorism? For heaven's sake, people, get a grip.

They've updated it now - I'm getting the same stuff there that I'm getting on the Toronto site (ctv.ca, if you're interested.)

Besides, I thought terrorists only wanted to attack the U.S.

That's right. They'll never attack Canada because Canada is their nice, easy gateway to the US. We let everybody in! /sarcasm

And clearly, gay marriage is a big terrorist plot, further attempting to undermine the pillar of civilization's support that the ol' U.S. of A. forms.

You know, your icon reminds me of a t-shirt I once made a kid turn inside-out at school because it was inappropriate. It said, "Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?" I laughed, but he still had to change.

As for terrorist plots - you know the real reason France wouldn't join the coalition of the willing was that they were afraid of terrorist attacks. And lookie here, they got hit anyway! An Air France plane!

Well, it looks like evryone survived with slightly morethan a dozen minor injuries. It could have been a lot worse.

And terrorism? Geez. Next thing you know, Dubya is gonna try to sue God for the lightning strike or something.

Legally, he wouldn't have much grounds. It's a French plane on Canadian soil. No connection to the U.S. at all.

At the moment, I think he owes us more than we owe him.
