Elizabeth almost certainly has chicken pox now. The spots are just starting to come out, but they're everywhere on her torso, front and back, and a few on her face. This is going to make for Issues with my sister's wedding on Saturday - she's supposed to be the flower girl.

If you were here on Friday and you haven't had chicken pox, be prepared. She was probably contagious - that may have been the real source of the fever, after all.

Oooh -- poor little thing! Well, it's probably still good that she's getting the illness over with at an early age, even though it sounds as if the timing could have been better. I hope everything goes as well as it possibly can!

AFAIK You never get chicken pox over with because you can keep getting it over and over again into adulthood.... when you can experience the joy of Shingles.
Poor little mite....at least once it's itchy it isn't being spread about.

Chicken pox I would have thought was an occupational hazard with teachers children...I know if the kids in my sisters school brought anything interesting from their visits Home to the Old Country my niece would fetch me a damn sample. That's how I got Whooping Cough at age 35. Wasn't diagnosed for the first 4 of the 6 weeks I suffered with it (so I was still working!) because.... "at 35 you can't get Whooping Cough!"

Most people get immunity for life with a moderate to heavy case of chickenpox as children. If you get a light case, you might not get complete immunity, and if you get it too young - I think it's less than a year old - you run an increased risk of getting it again later in life. I'm hoping my immunity holds out. I had it when I was just shy of three, coming out with the spots on the day my brother was due to be born. (He was three weeks late, and so was spared at that time.) Of course, there are people who do not develop the necessary immunity, and you never know who will be afflicted twice until they're exposed for the second time.

I hope your immunity holds out too.

Whe I get to itch it usually means a neighbour's brought some of her cats little friends with her. Ours doesn't go out so he can't catch his own....

Oh, ugh.

My brother just had chicken poxs but he's six... I think it's easier to explain to them when they're a little older. Still, at least she gets them out of the way now.

I'd imagine that it'll be fine by Saturday... you might need to use a little concealer on her, but if I remember correctly, by that point her rash should have eased somewhat and she should be at the scabbed stage and not feeling as ill anymore.

Calamine lotion is nature's gift to chicken-pox sufferers. Damped-down tea-bags placed on the area works too to ease histamine reactions (although less helpful when it's her whole body!).

Poor little thing. Good luck.

Oh, dear. I hope it's an easy case that concludes soon. Best wishes to the little one.

Poor little thing! She certainly didn't look her usual self on Friday, but her spots looked just like mosquito bites to me (I have some doozies this week). I do hope she gets immunity from this bout. What will you do about Saturday? Too early to say, I guess.
I am glad I was tested for immunity, one less thing to worry about. I wonder how accurate the test is. We'll find out!

Victory is mine.

I had it when I was pretty young. I still have a few scars from it.
