My Harry Potter is still not here. That's three business days. I don't care where it's coming from (and my guess would be a warehouse in Toronto, in any case) it doesn't take three days to ship a parcel! If you factor in the weekend, that's five days.

Considering I could have driven to Toronto to pick it up in a couple of hours, this is doubly annoying. It would have to be coming ground mail from outside the province to reasonably take this long. I didn't think ANYTHING came ground mail from outside the province in this day and age.

That's my rant.

I'm going to take a nap. I haven't written much - a couple of scenes, less than a thousand words - but I can't concentrate.

As if, after you recieve the book, you'll be able to concentrate on anything but the book until you've finished reading it...

cancel the order with an acerbic letter and get the Book from a supermarket at the heavily discounted prices they are selling it for.

Betcha's been nicked.

Guys, guys. Is Canadian post that much faster than American post?

Three days is about what I'm used to for parcels. Maybe it seems like a long time since it's something you're desperate for, but three days is not all that abnormal, at least not to me. Even Priority Mail (the US pretty-fast postage type) is a 3-day thing.

It's not that slow for Canadian shipping, actually. I'm not going to cancel the order, though in Britain that makes perfect sense - remember the phrase "return of post"? It means later on the same day. I wish we had that kind of service, even if it were regional rather than national, since national is a bit much to ask for when you're talking a country the size of Canada.

I'm just annoyed to have to wait.

Ach I got MINE on time. Paid more (even at discount) than if I'd got it at Tesco or Sainsbury's tho' they really knock 'em out cheap.

We picked up our copy at Bryan Prince Booksellers (an independent bookstore in Hamilton) in Westdale the very next day.

They told me that they were there from the stroke of midnight until 1:30 am the night previous, briskly selling copies to everyone who wanted one.

They still had lots of copies left, both with the 'kids' cover (the one we got) and the 'adult' (ie. boring) one.

Caroline, of course, immediatley grabbed it to read ahead of me!

I got Piet to order it online for an anniversary present. I should have had him order it from a local bookstore, so I could go pick it up either Friday night after our game, or early Saturday morning, like I did for the last one. If I'd realized it would take this long to be delivered, I would have done that. I'm seriously upset that Canada Post can't seem to manage a smallish parcel in three business days from a huge online retailer.
