birfday party plans
Apr. 14th, 2005 09:22 amPresents - purchased, as yet unwrapped. They include a musical tea party set, a Mr. Potato Head, some lacing cards, and a bunch of books of several varieties. One of them has a little piano on the side. She picked it out herself and I bought it unbeknownst to her, putting it away for her birthday.
Meal - My mom is buying the lasagna, and my MIL is making a salad. I have to order a cake (I'm think Winnie the Pooh), get plates, glasses, napkins, party hats, and other odds and ends, and I'll probably run up to Zarky's for some of their rolls, too. I'll make punch, because it's easy and relatively cheap and I own a punch bowl. Note to self: buy limes or some other brightly-coloured fruit to put in the punch.
State of the House - an absolute disaster for which I have done absolutely nothing. While I'm out getting a cake and rolls, Piet will be cleaning on Saturday morning. Actually, that's not true - I vacuumed and organized toys on Tuesday. Cleaning will be easier with that done.
Elizabeth's preparations - if you ask her how old she is (in English - she doesn't respond to the French of this, yet) she'll answer, "I'm two!" and hold up two fingers. I'm working on the French question and response. She knows there's a birthday this weekend, but hasn't figured out yet that she can have one. She was running around last night saying, "Hap birday, Aunty Kista!" I'm looking forward to this year's cake shots.
In short, plans are proceeding apace. Considering how little thought I've actually put into this, it's coming together nicely. Next year will be more of a problem, though. Next year there will be - dum da da dum! - FRIENDS.
