This school is history!!
Jun. 11th, 2004 10:06 pmThe second round of postings ended at 4:00 this afternoon. Interviews must happen sometime between 8:00 Monday morning and 5:00 next Friday afternoon. By 5:30, I had two interviews scheduled, one for the job I really, really want (grades 4-6 Core French at a nice school in Ancaster) and the other for a job that would be quite nice, though it's only half time - grade 4 French Immersion. That one isn't as good mostly because it means a half-day at a different school, not necessarily of my choosing. I'm still going all out for it, though - half a day doing something I'm suited for is better than a full day doing something I'm not, which I might end up with if I wait to be placed.
I'm happy that I got called so fast - with the last round of postings, I didn't even get called for the two jobs I really wanted. It's a good sign. It also means I'm going near the beginning, which is usually a good spot to be.
On the one hand, it's great that I have a job, no matter what, and would need to be pretty awful for a very long time before they could get rid of me. (Since I would never let myself be that bad, I've got a job with this board as long as I want one.) On the other hand, this posting process is ludicrously long and so late in the year that if the placement I get turns out to be the fire to the current frying pan, there's not really enough time to get hired at a different board by September.
I hate job-hunting.
Wish me luck!
