Just another manic Monday. . .

And yours truly is once again back at school. Ug.
I haven't looked at my planning book since I packed it to take home on the Friday before the break. Of course, part of the reason I didn't look at it was that I knew my plans for Monday were in good shape, so it wouldn't be too much of a rush this morning if I didn't. The rest of the reason had to do with work avoidance and general laziness. (Can it be called laziness to put off doing a paid job by working on something like a book? Or is that just lack of motivation signalling the need for a career change?)
I had a good break. For those of you on the writing filter who haven't been reading your ljs this weekend, there were two posts about the dolphin book. (I really need to get some character names, and possibly a working title that sounds better than "the Dolphin book.") Opinions are actively solicited, though I don't promise to take any advice given. :)
Accomplishments of my break include:
1) Singing, dancing, and generally making merry with my toddler;
2) Improving her French to the point where I get occasional spontaneous sentences in that language (as opposed to hearing them first in English, me translating, and her parroting the French back to me)
3) Finishing "Dreamcarver", except for one or two isolated scenes and one short piece of epilogue
4) Making a good (2000 word) start on the dolphin book
5) Several excellent conversations with friends, in particular
rainwolf and my friend Antonia who is a bit starved for adult companionship at the moment (she's in month four of a year-long mat leave, and she misses talking shop with other teachers)
6) Three separate roleplaying games - in order of occurence, Trinity, D&D, and Traveller-That-Isn't
7) Lots of laundry, though I didn't quite manage to stay on top of it;
8) About two feet of crocheted lace and half a square of my baby afghan;
9) Aiding my sister, as bridesmaids are supposed to do, in the purchase of a wedding dress (it's a white prom dress, and it's lovely)
10) Finally purchasing the other materials for a certain wedding present. I'll dig out the sewing machine on Monday next to work on that. :)
All in all, a very good holiday.
Now I need to go write up lesson plans for my guided reading lessons for the week. The good news there is that one book takes at least two weeks to go through, usually three, so if I do a good job on those lesson plans I won't have to do the next set for several weeks.
Happy Monday, everyone!
