Falls during March Break, as usual. I hate never getting the chance to wear green - until I remember that I don't actually own any at the moment.

Anyhow.

Since today is the last music class before the 17th, the song list includes:

1) When Irish Eyes are Smiling - I spent half an hour figuring out chording for this last night
2) Michael Finnigan - in their textbook, complete with accompaniment
3) Macnamara's Band - just the first verse and chorus, because it's been eighteen years since I learned it and I only remember the first verse.

I've also reverted to "Irish Lullaby" for Elizabeth's lullaby in the evening. I've always loved that song.

This evening is writing time. I think I'll work on the climax scene a bit more, just to round it off, and I'll probably start the epilogue. Next week is my personal deadline - by the end of March Break, I'll have finished the book.

I have to go make photocopies for math.

I suggest The Night that Paddy Murphy Died by Great Big Sea, because it's a rousing tale, and you can give the kids little glasses of scotch.

No?

No, but they have a few other songs I could use. I'll do that right after March break.

I've always been partial to "Ugly Mrs. Fenn", myself.

And you're Protestant -- wouldn't you wear Orange?

I'm actually not even Irish, in spite of my name. This is about taking what I like from a culture and running with it.

Hmm . . . I need a green velvet jacket for next year. :)

Have you seen the bit in the movie (Going My Way I think)where Bing ... with the Irish Lullaby in the background ... arranges a reunion between crusty ol' priest and crumbling, doddery ol' momma?
Reminded me of the scene in Ask a Policeman where Will Hay (having met Harbottles father) gets asked if he'd like to meet his Mum..."No thanks, I've met Adam I don't want to meet Eve!"
