I think the creator of the test had a slightly different view of how to use colons and semicolons than I was taught, or than I have seen in other books. I'm not convinced the other answers would be right, but I should go back and take the test again, putting colons in places where I put semicolons, and see if I get a better mark. Then I'm going to look it up in a good punctuation resource I have at home (Eats Shoots and Leaves) and see who is right - me, or the person who created the test. :)
