My afternoon off. . .

Is not actually proving to be an afternoon off. I can't settle to anything for more than ten minutes. I wrote five hundred words of Dreamcarver, but I'm not happy with it and will probably scrap it later. I answered e-mail, played Settlers, and generally tooled around for a bit, but nothing good is happening in my head right now. I can't even work on report card comments - they require absolutely zero creativity but a fair amount of concentration, so they're not going to happen right now.

I discovered last night that the new square I'm doing for my baby afghan is significantly tighter than the previous one, to the tune of nearly an inch on each side. Since it's also more square, I think the current square will be the benchmark and I'll have to redo the other. Oh, well. I have plenty of yarn and a fair amount of time. D's baby isn't due until July.

I'm considering making a skirt to go with my favourite summer top. I can't afford to spend what I would like to spend on a new dress, especially when shoes are a much more pressing need. So I'll spend significant cash on the shoes, and call in my aunt to help me with the finer points of fitting a skirt. I want something A-line, with an uneven hem, and maybe something frilly around the bottom. Periwinkle, I think - there's a stripe in the top I want to wear with it of that colour, and I love it. Also, it would go with other tops in my wardrobe. And I want a slinky fabric with some serious give to it. I'm never going to find all this in a skirt in the store, or at least, not without spending more time looking than I would spend making the skirt I want. So I'm going to take an hour on Saturday and shop for a pattern and some material. I think I'll look for a plain A-line pattern; the funky hem stuff my aunt and I will figure out on our own.

Isn't "periwinkle" a delicious word?

Anyhow.

I'm also going to shop for materials to finish a certain wedding gift. To all of you who are not actually the couple getting married, when i finish it I will post pictures (locked, of course - sassy_fae would undoubtedly peek.)

I'm going to go try a few inches of lace. I haven't touched that in a while.

Yeah, I had. It's one of the reasons I knew I'd like you. :) Blue in general, and periwinkle in particular, is my favourite colour.
