I've never been able to figure out the pull of knitting socks. They go on your feet until one gets lost in the wash; why spend a fortune and a few weeks making them?
Then Knit Picks came out with their new colours in a washable soft yarn.
Curse you, Knit Picks! You've got me looking up sock patterns on Ravelry!
EDIT: Then again, I could make a pair of fingerless mittens instead.

Lacking convenient access to the fingerless gloves that at least one cast member in every British SF show seems to wear as part of their costume (Primeval, Being Human), I buy cheap Jersey gloves and snip the fingertips off'em.

Or there's this one. (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring07/PATTdashing.html)
