Last summer, I wrote this post to introduce myself to new friends. It's still a pretty good account. The only significant change from that is that the female problems mentioned in it were resolved this week with a hysterectomy. The patriarchy had its way with me! Or, not. Also, I have a book almost finished and another planned and ready to start writing, when I can wrap my head around it (which is to say, hopefully next week.)

Anyhow.

My daughters are watching the Wiggles. This is not improving my mood at all.

I'm going to go around to a bunch of female health communities that allow non-member posting and offer up my new icon to anyone who wants it. Every time I see it somewhere, I'll rejoice in the fact that I NO LONGER NEED IT.

The Wiggles can be annoying. But they are good looking! That does not hurt! Captain Feathersword can go DIAF. That might have been a little harsh. But I think he and Anthony are spotlight stealers.

I think it was [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae and I who started discussing when exactly children's programming made the transition from grandfatherly men like Mr. Rodgers to eye candy for mommies like the Wiggles. We couldn't pinpoint it, but I'm sure the moment came when some producer realized, "You know, the moms are going to be a lot happier watching this if the entertainers aren't too hard on the eyes."

I point to Steve Burns from Blues Clues! I'm not as big a fan of Donovan Patton (Joe), but Steve? I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers ^_^

Considering Blues Clues was developed based on E.C.E research, taking into account things like preschoolers attention spans, I'm sure they did a little research into what would hold the adults' attention spans as well ;)
