I wrote a grand total of five hundred words on my novel since this time last week, all of it yesterday morning. But I've thought it through enough that I could probably get to three thousand tonight if i wanted to. I'm not feeling the urgency, though. I'll get back to the Seal Island scene tomorrow night.

I was pleased with the response to the PoAC earlier. Real debate! Yay! Now if only some of the people who are likely to disagree with my premise (I have at least two on my friends list) would speak up and make it really interesting - everyone who has commented so far is in basic agreement and wanted to point out some of the peripheral points. That's welcome, of course, but I really want to sink my teeth into some debate here.

I've spent quite a bit of time this weekend working on a certain bit of crocheted lace. I have about two feet of it done. Only about thirteen feet to go! I'll have to go out and purchase the other materials next week. At some point soon, I'll get Piet to take a picture and I'll post it. (The camera doesn't like me. Pictures taken of me are usually okay; pictures I take invariably turn out awful. So I get Piet to take them.)

Work goal for the week: get caught up on marking math journals. Also: email a music teacher I know about going to observe her class and figure out what I should be doing. Meanwhile, actually start using those horrible music textbooks that we have - the ones published the year yours truly was in kindergarten. Not the year I taught it (I never have.) The year I was five. That, folks, is twenty-four years ago. Think we have money for new music texts? Not likely - the school is saving up for social studies resources.

When I was in primary school ('63 - '67) we used to study what music we did via the BBC Music for Schools study booklets...1956, 57 etc. Lovely illustrations by Eric Fraser....
