I think I miscounted yesterday. I left out one, three-thousand-word document while adding up the word count. It should be closer to 44 000.

I had a 2 000-word nap today, which ended rather suddenly as the baby began to scream. I went in to discover a very disgusting scene resulting, as far as we can tell, from a bit of a stomach bug. I won't bore you with the details, but it was nearly an hour later when I got back to the novel. I wrote another thousand words, for a total of three thousand this afternoon. That puts me around 47 000, which is only one more solid day's work from my end-of-vacation goal.

I'm trying very hard to stay focussed on the things over which I have control, and ignore the news. I can't do much about that, except give. I will do that much. But fretting over it won't help anyone, least of all me, so I'm concentrating on word count instead.

Hmm... you had mentioned having a lot of kids clothes to find homes for. I wonder how many nekkid kids are running around in the wake of that tsunami, having lost all their stuff along with their homes...

I cuddled my sick baby tonight and prayed about exactly that.

Too many... but those aren't the ones who can still be helped by us.

The thought had occurred to me. I'm going to contact the Red Cross tomorrow about it.
