Oh, the irony.

One of the biggest supporters I know of homebirth and attachment parenting . . . has a better-than-even chance of needing a c-section to deliver her second child. We're not talking inducement-to-section, here - we're talking placenta previa, where the choice is between a section and bleeding to death.

There's been a fallout, and I'm no longer welcome in her journal - but I wish her the best all the same.

wow. I hope she's okay. Stuff like that man, as ironic and "ha!" as it is, can really destroy a person - or change them depending on how they view challenges like that. Thanks for giving me something to think about while I do my to-do list today. : )

I'm not finding it funny-ironic - more tragic-ironic, though, modern medicine being what it is and this having been caught quite early, chances are she and baby will be fine.

oh yeah. totally. I didn't mean to sound like I was implying that you were acting like it was funny-ironic. I was more like speaking for myself. ::shame:: I'd find it both funny ironic and tragic ironic.

Not only that, but chances are she should be able to have a natural birth - since she's only at the midpoint of her pregnancy, there's a very good chance that the placenta will have moved by the time it comes to deliver the baby (only 10% of women in whom it's detected this early will still have it by their due date, according to this page (http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/pregcomplications/830.html)).

Obviously it's worrying, but I don't see how it's particularly ironic.

Im a huge AP mom and home birth advocate but even when we took Bradley Classes (our instructor had her babe at home) she told us "placenta previa - get thee to hospital - kiss husband - have c section!!!!" She said it was one of the only reasons to be sectioned and she was dead serious
