Are you proud they noticed the Arar case, or that they noticed how ultra-conservative Harper and Day are?

I think it can be safely said that the American public is distancing itself from Bush, followed closely behind by various members of the Republican party. If my country weren't going to hell I would take a lot more glee in it than I am.

I knew about this case, but my girlfriend is a Canadian Army brat so I hear all sorts of "your government is inhuman and why do you keep shooting at us?!" stories.

I rarely watch the news not because I am not interested but there is no time but I didn't miss this story and it made me cry. It breaks my heart. I am glad that Canada does change its mind.

I'm glad to see any criticism of the Bush regime, but when it comes from any conservative (regardless of location) I feel that they're trying to distance themselves rather than be sincerely concerned, and that they're downplaying their own responsibility for supporting this madness.
