The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Three times in the last two days, Elizabeth has gone to sleep with a book in her hands - Goodnight Moon, to be precise. She "reads" it over to herself, getting the entire first page word-perfect and getting a bit mixed up after that, though everything she says is in the book somewhere. Within five minutes she's asleep.
If there ever were any doubt about who her parents are, it's totally gone.
Also, my daughter is at the pre-literate stage normally associated with a child of nearly twice her age. Insert proud-mommy look here.
Guess what? I spoke too soon. She's still talking herself to sleep. But she's not getting up or crying, so I'm okay with that. When I was a child, the most precious hour of the day was the one after I'd been tucked in but before I went to sleep. I spent it daydreaming, whispering my imaginings to myself after my sisters went to sleep, and making up fantastical stories of all descriptions. I can only pray her dream life will be as vivid as mine was. :)
