I finished my very pretty purple lace scarf. Basically, I got bored with it and made it the minimal length it would need to be to go around my neck and hang around where the (very low) neckline is on the dress I want to wear it with. The problem was that by making the scarf that short, I had no way to tie it to keep it hanging where I wanted it. This was tempered by the knowledge that making it longer would have required some kind of fastening, and I didn't like the look of most of the ones I knew about.

Long story short, I decided that a short scarf and an Irish crochet ring to go around it would make a really good pairing. So I crocheted a flower last night, and started on a lacy ground. Since I don't know how to join a motif and do the lacy ground around it, I decided to just make the two pieces separately and then sew the flower to the ground. Not very authentic, but nobody will notice unless I tell them, right?

It's very pretty, if I do say so myself. I used a ground that's fairly solid - no exposed chain stitches, just loops of sc worked over loops of chain. I figured that would make it easier to hide the sewing when I do it. I'm almost done - one or two more pattern repeats should see it big enough to go around the scarf but small enough to stay in place when I get it there.

But I don't want to finish it now. I think I'll take some cold meds and go back to bed for a while.
